Competencies
1. Plans for backup and recovery of database information
2. Capacity planning for database information
3. Planning dataflow for a new or revised database
4. Mapping out the “conceptual design” for a planned database in outline
5. Analyzes business application requirements and develops specifications for
database construction & maintenance
6. Performas data modeling, normalization and vendor interface
7. Maintains and records documents of all production databases and interface systems and
resolves database performance problems
8. Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
9. Coordinates software evaluation and installation related to database
10. Support period end functions and fix issues
11. Participate in teams for business process re-engineering
12. Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model
13. Further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements
14. Maintaining data standars, including adherence to the data protecion act
15. Provide database documentation including data standards, procedures, and definitions for
the data dictionary(metadata)
16. Controlling access permissions and privileges
17. Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers
18. Providing technical support for outdated legacy systems
19. Communicating regulary with technical, applications, and operational staff, to ensure
the database integrity & security
Qualifications
1. Three years experience as database administrator, developer, and implementation
2. Experience working with MS SQL 2000 databases, Windows NT/2000/2003, and MS Office
3. Experience with ERP application adminstration such as Baan IV, and proficiency in analytical &
report writting skill utililzed with the ERP databases
4. Knowledge in Web, ASP, XML, Java, and e-business development is plus
5. Comprehensive knowledge of current generation database and familiarity with network
communications technology
